We are looking for an experienced and motivated Storage Centre Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our Auckland CBD facility.
This is a varied role combining customer service, sales, team leadership, financial administration, facility operations, security and maintenance. You will take ownership of the centre and play an important role in delivering strong customer outcomes and business performance.
About the role
As Storage Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the successful day-to-day operation and presentation of the Auckland CBD facility.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading and delivering an exceptional customer experience, ensuring customers feel welcome, appreciated and respected.
Managing customer enquiries, providing storage solutions and converting enquiries into storage customers.
Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the storage facility and ensuring records and customer documentation are accurate and up to date.
Managing rental accounts, following up outstanding payments and processing refunds in accordance with company procedures.
Managing facility financial administration, including banking, reconciliations, accounts and regular reporting.
Working with the Operations Manager on budgets, cash-flow forecasts, advertising and business development initiatives.
Monitoring centre performance and preparing operational and financial reports.
Maintaining a high standard of security across the facility, including regular security checks, access control and responding appropriately to security concerns or breaches.
Ensuring the facility, storage units, office, customer areas, grounds, gates, fencing and other infrastructure are clean, safe and well maintained.
Coordinating repairs, maintenance and contractors as required.
Liaising with customers, suppliers, contractors and relevant local authorities where required.
Supporting the sale of ancillary products and maintaining appropriate stock levels and records.
Working collaboratively with the Assistant Manager and supporting the development and capability of the centre team.
Ensuring company policies, procedures, health and safety requirements and operational standards are consistently followed.
About you
We are looking for someone who takes ownership, enjoys working with people and is comfortable balancing customer service with the operational and commercial responsibilities of managing a facility.
You will ideally bring:
Previous experience in a management, supervisory or operational role. Strong customer service and communication skills.
Experience managing day-to-day operations and taking ownership of outcomes.
Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
Sound computer skills and the ability to learn and use business management systems.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
The ability to manage financial administration, reporting and budgets.
The ability to lead, support and develop team members.
A proactive approach and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience in self-storage, facilities management, property, retail, hospitality or another customer-focused operational environment would be advantageous.
A current NZ Class 1 driver's licence or equivalent is preferred.
Hours and roster
This is a full-time permanent position with 37.5 paid hours per week.
The Auckland CBD facility operates seven days a week, so the role works on a rotating fortnightly roster, including every second weekend.
