About the role

As an Assistant Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility. You will be helping people find the right storage solution for their needs and work as part of a team.

A Little About The Role:

• You would not be based at any one location, but instead will travel between various locations from day to day.
• It’s all about supporting our broader VIC team, and ensuring our centres have appropriate coverage (similar to a roving relief manager in the retail industry)
• Customer Service & Sales - It's all about helping our customer's find a solution that meets their storage and/or packaging supply needs
• Clean & maintain the facility to a high standard
• With the support of the Centre Managers, and Assistant Managers, you are responsible for the day to day operations of the facility.
• Travel around Melbourne, meet and connect with lots of new people

You will be covering leave in a full-time capacity. Its great because you never feel "stuck" and its a social role where you get to meet a lot of the team.

About Kennards Self Storage

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Storage Centre Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our Auckland CBD facility.

This is a varied role combining customer service, sales, team leadership, financial administration, facility operations, security and maintenance. You will take ownership of the centre and play an important role in delivering strong customer outcomes and business performance.

About the role

As Storage Centre Manager, you will be responsible for the successful day-to-day operation and presentation of the Auckland CBD facility.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and delivering an exceptional customer experience, ensuring customers feel welcome, appreciated and respected.
• Managing customer enquiries, providing storage solutions and converting enquiries into storage customers.
• Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the storage facility and ensuring records and customer documentation are accurate and up to date.
• Managing rental accounts, following up outstanding payments and processing refunds in accordance with company procedures.
• Managing facility financial administration, including banking, reconciliations, accounts and regular reporting.
• Working with the Operations Manager on budgets, cash-flow forecasts, advertising and business development initiatives.
• Monitoring centre performance and preparing operational and financial reports.
• Maintaining a high standard of security across the facility, including regular security checks, access control and responding appropriately to security concerns or breaches.
• Ensuring the facility, storage units, office, customer areas, grounds, gates, fencing and other infrastructure are clean, safe and well maintained.
• Coordinating repairs, maintenance and contractors as required.
• Liaising with customers, suppliers, contractors and relevant local authorities where required.
• Supporting the sale of ancillary products and maintaining appropriate stock levels and records.
• Working collaboratively with the Assistant Manager and supporting the development and capability of the centre team.
• Ensuring company policies, procedures, health and safety requirements and operational standards are consistently followed.

About you

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, enjoys working with people and is comfortable balancing customer service with the operational and commercial responsibilities of managing a facility.

You will ideally bring:

• Previous experience in a management, supervisory or operational role.
  Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Experience managing day-to-day operations and taking ownership of outcomes.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Sound computer skills and the ability to learn and use business management systems.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• The ability to manage financial administration, reporting and budgets.
• The ability to lead, support and develop team members.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in self-storage, facilities management, property, retail, hospitality or another customer-focused operational environment would be advantageous.
• A current NZ Class 1 driver's licence or equivalent is preferred.

Hours and roster

This is a full-time permanent position with 37.5 paid hours per week.

The Auckland CBD facility operates seven days a week, so the role works on a rotating fortnightly roster, including every second weekend.

About the opportunity

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their accounting career while gaining experience across a broad range of finance activities.

You'll work alongside an experienced and supportive Finance team and have exposure to accounting across both our Australian and New Zealand businesses.

There's plenty of variety. You'll contribute to:

• Month-end processes including reconciliations, allocations and recharges
• Bank reconciliations
• Accruals, prepayments and journals
• Year-end processes and external audits
• Occasional support of the Accounts Payable and Receivable team
• Supporting our centre teams with accounting and customer account queries
• Other Finance team activities where you can learn, contribute and build your experience

About you

You don't need to know everything on day one. We're looking for someone with a good foundation in accounting who enjoys learning, solving problems and working with others.

What you will bring:

• Practical accounting or finance experience of 2 years or more.
• A relevant accounting degree
• CA/CPA qualifications, or be working towards them
• Good attention to detail and organisation
• Confidence using Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with WORKDAY would be viewed favourably.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• An ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
• A willingness to ask questions, learn and apply that learning to new situations
• A collaborative approach and willingness to support others

Join the Self-Storage industry’s most innovative and market-leading operator. With circa 130 locations & over 100,000 Self Storage spaces across Australia & New Zealand we are looking to engage a CFO to look after the fiscal health of the organisation and take a strategic role in the future direction.

The role will oversee the financial position of the organisation, through our people and financial operating platform. Interpret and analyse data to advise the company and board. Playing a key role in the future performance and direction of the business.

Building strong relationships with stakeholders, financial institutions, auditors, and consultants.

In addition to the self-storage operation, Kennards is a large property owner, and we continue to source and acquire new properties, experience in valuations, feasibilities, and acquisitions is desirable.

You will Lead:

·        A dynamic, engaged finance Team.

·        Financial planning and analysis

·        Cash management including treasury.

·        Debt finance and relationships

·        Accounting activities & financial operations

With the ability to demonstrate:

·        Develop and maintain business partnerships

·        Constructive communication and negotiating skills

·        Deep financial expertise

·        A focus and understanding of data & improving financial outcomes
